This lovely holiday cottage dating from the beginning of the 18th Century has been restored to a high standard and will provide a cosy and tranquil base for your holiday. Situated about 11 miles south of Domfront. The cottage is within easy reach of Cherbourg, the Normandy landing beaches of Omaha and Utah..Ferries crossings to the Channel Islands. Mont St Michel is a 2-hour drive away, and the famous Bayeux tapestries, to the North, is about a 2 hours drive. The port of Caen is only 2 hours away. Dinard airport, which is served by Ryan air, is a similar distance. The location of the cottage is in traditional Mayenne farming country and extremely rural and peaceful. With just the sound of the occasional tractor to remind you where you are! It's a safe environment for children, and the lane, which passes the cottage, serves only the next-door farmhouse. Because the terrain is gently rolling and the lanes quiet, cycling and walking from the cottage are popular. However, sandy beaches, and canoeing are all a short drive away; and of course, being in France, there are good restaurants and local markets abound. Visits to the local cider vendor can be arranged for tasting and purchase. Mont St Michel (about a 46 miles drive away ) is a beautiful Monastery Island town with it’s own shopping centre and museum. There is also 2 miles away, the beautiful Flower Village of St. Fraimbault, with its floral bedecked streets, tabac, food store, and excellent restaurant and bar. Bagnole de l’Orne, (17 miles away) an old spa town of great character.
